Spinal Decompression

Decompression therapy is an FDA-approved method of relieving pain and disability by repairing damaged spinal discs and reversing nerve degradation.  Following examination by the chiropractor, a computer-controlled device gently distracts (pulls very slightly apart) your spinal discs.  This decompression of the discs lets oxygen and blood flow into affected areas to speed up healing and relieve pain.

Spinal decompression is not for everybody. There are certain patients who should avoid
decompression altogether and others whose success rates are below the industry average. For ideal candidates this may be a way of getting their lives back while avoiding surgery.
Initially, you will be evaluated, which may include x-rays and an MRI. The purpose of the spinal
imaging is to determine the level or levels of disc injury. It is critical to determine the primary disc injury as this determines the angle and force programmed into the decompression table. If more than one disc level is involved then treatment will start initially at the primary symptomatic level and then as that level stabilizes will be shifted to the other levels.

The patient will be required to fill out special forms which can quantify and qualify the level of
disability. These will be periodically filled out to track patient progress in their recovery. There are different levels of care available with our program. A trial program of six visits over two
weeks is available to introduce the patient to decompression and to determine how well they
respond to this protocol. A short term treatment program consisting of ten visits over four weeks is available for transient relief and short term stabilization. Several long treatment programs are also available consisting of 24 visits over 12 weeks for pain relief and core stabilization. A long term program of 35 to 40 visits over a 52 week period is available which adds long term supportive care following the intensive program.
